It is a fact that in the chaos and daily rush of the modern world, people often put their conscience aside and act. However, in order for the world we live in to be a more livable and fair place, we need to work our conscience more actively. In this article, we will examine the importance of looking at life through the lens of conscience and how we can develop this perspective.

What is Conscience and Why is It Important?

Conscience is an internal guide that allows a person to distinguish right from wrong. This guide helps a person act according to their moral values and plays an important role in maintaining social order. Conscience also provides the individual with inner peace and prevents them from feeling guilty or regretful about their actions. By listening to the voice of our conscience, we can live a more ethical and moral life.

Situations That Hurt Our Conscience

1. Harming Living Beings

Harming animals by acting unconsciously in traffic or on the streets deeply wounds our conscience. Respecting the right to life of every living being is a human responsibility.

2. Discrimination and Hate Speech

Slogans expressing discrimination on the streets or on social media threaten social peace and disturb the peace of conscientious individuals. Spreading awareness that everyone has equal rights and fighting discrimination is a conscientious duty.

3. Inappropriate Infrastructure for Disabled Individuals

Potholes on rough roads where wheelchair wheels get stuck make life difficult for disabled individuals and disturb our conscience. Creating a more inclusive and accessible infrastructure is a requirement of social conscience.

4. Child Abuse

Mothers or parents who pull their children to walk violate children's rights and hurt our conscience. Raising children with love and compassion is essential for their healthy development.

These examples are limited, like drops in the ocean.

When we continue to look through the glasses of conscience, our conscientious responsibility will increase as we see countless more examples.

What Should We Do to Look at Life Through the Eyes of Conscience?

1. Developing Empathy and Sensitivity

Being sensitive to the pain and difficulties of others improves our empathy and strengthens our conscience. By putting ourselves in the shoes of others, we can become more understanding and compassionate individuals.

2. Taking Responsibility

Individuals with a conscience do not remain indifferent to social problems. We must strive for a better world by taking responsibility for the environment, people and animals.

3. Internalizing Moral Values

By placing moral and ethical values at the center of our lives, we can keep our conscience active. By making the difference between right and wrong clear, we can consult our conscience in our daily decisions.

4. Education and Awareness

Education of conscience should begin in childhood. Families and educational institutions should raise conscientious individuals by teaching children moral values and empathy. At the same time, various campaigns and events should be organized to raise awareness in society.

Conclusion

Looking at life through the lens of conscience is the key to building a more just, peaceful and livable world, both individually and socially.

By keeping our conscience active, acting with empathy and responsibility, and not remaining indifferent to the injustices and suffering around us, we can contribute to a better future. Acting with this awareness will ensure that not only we, but also future generations, live in a happier and healthier world.
