The feet of one of the most important and genuine bridges that unite people are #Books . Thanks to books, we get to know other lives; we try to understand and at least listen to those who are similar to us and those who are not. For this reason, as the Vicdan Foundation, we are taking a step and inviting you to this journey.

As the Vicdan Foundation Culture and Arts Commission, we have established a book club with the same feelings. In this club, we will come together every month to read a book we have chosen together, then talk and discuss it. Through books, we will discover different perspectives, get to know new worlds, and most importantly, grow together by respecting each other's ideas.

Book of the Month September: Stefan Zweig - Conscience Versus Tyranny

The book we have chosen for this month is "Conscience Against Tyranny" by the famous author Stefan Zweig. Zweig lived in one of the darkest periods of Europe and deeply reflected the mood of that period in his works. "Conscience Against Tyranny" strongly emphasizes how the individual conscience resists oppression and tyranny and how human dignity must be defended.

Why This Book?

We chose this book because it is in keeping with the spirit of our times. As a society, we must not forget how important it is to raise our voices against tyranny and injustice, to listen to our conscience, and to defend human dignity. By providing us with a historical perspective, Zweig's work can inspire us on how to approach the challenges we face today.

How to Participate in the Event?

Our activity consists of two different stages.

In the first stage, we are announcing the book that we will read for 30 days. BY JOINING THE READER'S LIST, you can share and discuss the notes and thoughts that interest you while reading the book in the FORUM under the event page.

The second phase of the event will be the evaluation meeting, which we will hold ONLINE via Google Meet, at the end of the one-month reading period, where we evaluate the book and the author together. Only those who have joined the READER LIST will be invited to this meeting.

You don't need much to join our book club; all you need is an open mind, curiosity, and a love for books. We will come together every month to have an in-depth conversation about the book we are reading. We will try to understand different perspectives and in the process, we will grow both individually and collectively. .🙏🌺
