Vicdan Foundation Father's Day Meeting: Sharing the Pain and Seeking Justice

The Conscience Foundation was founded in 2023 by human rights defender Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu. The foundation aims to draw attention to social problems and produce solutions by adopting the vision of a more just, compassionate and peaceful world. In this context, Conscience Meetings are organized, bringing together people from different segments of society.

Inspired by our most recent "Mother's Day Gathering", we are organizing a special event this time for Father's Day. Our event titled "Father's Day Gathering: Sharing the Pain and Seeking Justice" will take place on Saturday, June 8th at 14:00. In this meeting, grieving fathers from all over Turkey will come together and share the difficulties they experience and their struggle for rights.

Seven precious fathers who have accepted our invitation so far will be attending our event:

1. Father of a child with autism

2. A father of a KHK academic who had to look after his three children after his wife passed away

3. A father who lost his young son to cancer while his wife was in prison

4. Father who lost his child while in prison

5. A father who lost his child after being hit by a drunk driver and fought a tough legal battle

6. A father whose child (military student) contracted cancer in prison

7. The father who lost his child to a police bullet and fought for justice

Apart from these seven fathers, we also expect new names to join our event.

In this special meeting, fathers will support each other by sharing their pain, struggles and quest for justice. We aim to inform the society about the difficulties and injustices experienced by fathers and to raise awareness on this issue. You can follow the event live from the link we provide below, only as a viewer, without interaction. The reason for this is that the purpose of the event is to provide a platform for participants to tell what they have experienced and felt. Therefore, questions and opinions of online viewers will not be taken.
